Enjoy a Stroll Through A Beautiful Wildflower Meadow

Specious-rich in wading birds, butterflies and plants such as meadow foxtail, adder’s-tongue fern and green-winged orchid, you can enjoy the Cotswold wildlife in their element on a walk along the Thames National Trail path that runs alongside the reserve.

Our bed and breakfast accommodation has received a prestigious four gold star rating from The AA. Nestled in a peaceful courtyard adorned with blooming roses, our six rooms offer a true sense of home away from home. They are thoughtfully designed with vintage furnishings, feature vegan and environmentally conscious British bath and body products, boast either rain showers or elegant claw-foot tubs, and provide spacious double or kingsize beds.

Emphasizing the use of the finest local ingredients, especially the abundant fish and seafood from our local sources, The Trout Inn’s menus showcase seasonal dishes and innovative twists on traditional pub favourites.

A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF CHIMNEY MEADOWS

The reserve primarily consists of wetland habitats, including lowland meadows, reed beds, and wet woodlands. These habitats are rich in biodiversity and provide a home to a wide variety of plant and animal species.

Chimney Meadow is known for its diverse flora, including rare wildflowers, sedges, and grasses. It is particularly famous for its population of the snake’s head fritillary (Fritillaria meleagris), a distinctive and endangered wildflower.

The reserve is a haven for birdwatchers, with numerous bird species calling it home or using it as a stopover during migration. You can spot various waterfowl, wading birds, and songbirds in the area.
