At The Old House, we aim to create a welcoming and familiar atmosphere during your stay. Our guest bedrooms are located in a converted barn affectionately known as ‘The Coop,’ offering picturesque views of our mature garden. These six ensuite rooms are named after British chicken breeds and feature tasteful decor that includes natural textures and earthy hues. You’ll also find modern furnishings and charming original elements in each room.
Dating back to the 16th century, Wakehurst Place boasts a rich history that has witnessed centuries of transformations. Originally owned by Sir Edward Culpeper, the estate has seen various owners and changes over the years. In 1965, it became a part of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, cementing its status as a haven for plant enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
At the heart of Wakehurst Place are its stunning gardens, meticulously designed to showcase a diverse array of plant life. The Water Gardens, with their tranquil ponds and vibrant aquatic plants, provide a serene retreat for visitors seeking peace and quiet.
